Dr. Phillips, Florida - Area Information & Foreclosure Listings
The uniquely named Dr. Phillips, Florida, located in Orange County, is situated within 10 minutes of Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios, and about 15-20 minutes from Downtown Orlando or Orlando International Airport.
Presently, this is a community of 40,000 people living along a chain of lakes that encompasses two golf courses, two country clubs, a cluster of upscale condos and townhouses, a shopping center, post office, high rise office complex, Olympic swimming pool, two schools, and a dozen tennis courts. The Dr. Phillips area has become very desirable, due largely to the local schools' reputations.
In the last 30 years explosive growth is thanks to the location of two key local industries: defense and tourism. Initially it was the construction of defense giant Martin Marrietta (currently Lockheed Martin) that had the greatest impact on the city, but that was only until the arrival in 1971 of Orlando's most famous resident, Mickey Mouse. The impact of Walt Disney World on all of Central Florida has been huge, but nowhere is it more recognizable than in southwest Orlando and the Dr. Phillips area.
The Dr. Phillip's area, neighboring Windermere and Isleworth encompass some of the most luxurious homes in Orange County. From golf-front homes in the prestigious community of Bay Hill to multi-million dollar mansions on the Butler chain of lakes to exclusive gated communities, there is a home for the most discriminating tastes. There are also more affordable homes ranging from the low $200,000’s for townhomes and condos.
